16 Languages in Pre-School Training for Disabled Children by AIISH

Mysore-based All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) will soon implement 16 Indian languages in its pre-school training programme for the deaf, mentally retarded, autistic, and children with cerebral palsy. The institute will be the first of its kind in the country to implement 16 languages in such training programmes.

Pre-school training programmes are currently being imparted by the institute in four south Indian languages apart from Hindi and English to children in seperate age groups. These programmes aim at preparing children with disabilities to be part of the mainstream school and society by training them in their growing stages.

Other such insititutes train disabled children in regional languages around their location. However, AIISH, Mysore will be the first of its kind to extend the training language scope.
