Mysore's ex-Corporator is State Congress Sevadal President

Mr. P. Nagaraj, a senior Congressman and former member of the Mysore City Corporation, has been appointed President of the State Congress Sevadal. The former Corporator took charge of his new post in the party on June 7 in Bangalore.

Mr. Nagaraj, who held several party positions since 1977 in the city since, hopes to make the Congress Party's youth movement in the State more dynamic. His plans include enrolling of more members to the voluntary service cadre of the party and organizing a State-level training camp for women. The date for the camp will be finalised after consulting the Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. The Congress President is scheduled to visit Karnataka twice in the next few weeks and a date will be finalised to suit her convenience during her visit. Two women representatives from each Assembly segment will be chosen from all over the State and given training at the camp, to be held in Mysore. Greater stress will be laid on discipline in the Sevadal, he told newsmen.

Mr.Nagaraj was given a warm welcome when he visited the City Congress Party Office in Mysore on June 7, after assuming the new office.
