Math Builds Houses for Poor in Mysore

Mata Amritanandamayi Math has launched a massive project to construct 25,000 houses all over the country. They are given free to widows, aged, disabled and destitute. Under the scheme, Amrita Kuteeram has been constructed at Gokulam layout in Mysore, K.R.Nagar and Hosahalli, during 2001-2002.

These houses were handed over to the beneficiaries by Chief Minister of Karnataka Mr. S.M.Krishna, under the presence of Mata
Amritanandamayi. In the current year, during Mata’s visit to Mysore on February 14, 15 and 16, it has been decided to distribute about 25 houses at Gandhinagar Extension in Mysore. The project at Gandhinagar was inaugurated by Mysore Mayor Mr. B.K.Prakash. During 2002 North India tour, about 1,500 free houses already constructed in Gujarat will be officially handed over to the beneficiaries by the Union Home Minister Mr. L.K. Advani. These villages have been adopted by the Mata to help last year’s
earth- quake victims.
